Petersen Tegl, a manufacturer of specialized brick and tile products based in Broager, Denmark, is a family-owned business founded in 1791. In its early years, the company had an unusual role in the rum and sugar trade: after loading their goods in Europe, they filled the ship's cargo holds with Petersen Tegl bricks for the return journey. Upon reaching the Caribbean, the bricks were used to build houses.
Today, Petersen Tegl bricks add style and character to new buildings and restorations. Notable designs include the world-famous Kolumba™, developed for the Kolumba Museum in Cologne, and Petersen Cover™, a roofing product for covering roofs and facades.
In 2021, Petersen decided it was time to replace the engine on their vessel, which had been installed shortly after the ship's purchase.
"However, we had some difficult requirements to meet," explains Dorow. "Since moisture can be an issue in wooden boats, we were looking for a mechanical engine with minimal electronics. We also needed a partner with experience in marine engines for wooden boats, someone who could take care of everything for us. There weren’t many local companies that could meet our needs, so we were pleased to find West Diesel!"

West Diesel provided a complete package at their workshop, including engine mounting points, fuel hoses, and crankcase ventilation. The team then worked with the shipyard to install everything. In fact, when the cockpit was removed, the engine installation was completed in just one day.
